Experience

Mary Kelly (she/her) is a euro-Canadian settler with Irish heritage, she is a Junior Researcher with The Firelight Group supporting the IBA team. She completed a Bachelor of Management and Environmental Sustainability at Dalhousie University and is currently finishing her Masters of Resource and Environmental Management from Simon Fraser University with a specialization in Planning. Mary’s research explored Indigenous cultural heritage policies and local government implementation in a case study with K’ómoks First Nation.Mary’s education and work experience has spanned working on number of projects throughout BC and the Yukon. She brings a background in environmental assessments, previously supporting Indigenous, government, and industry projects through the regulatory process. Her worked is focused on pathways for Indigenous self-determination in the EA/IBA process.In her spare time, you can find Mary mountain biking and skiing on Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) and Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation’s Territory.
