Alexis is Anishinaabe, Saulteaux and English and is a member the Skownan First Nation. She is also from Lake Manitoba First Nation and Ebb and Flow First Nation all located in Treaty 2 Territory (Manitoba). Alexis is a Researcher with the Firelight Group supporting the Traditional Knowledge and Use Study Team. She completed her Bachelors of Arts in Anthropology at the University of Victoria in 2020. She has a background in traditional land use research and has worked with Indigenous communities throughout Turtle Island. She has been the Indigenous Mapping Workshop Coordinator since 2021. In her spare time, you can find her hiking, camping, reading or sipping coffee at a local cafe!
