Aly is a Junior Researcher at the Firelight Group supporting the Indigenous Health team. She is a settler currently residing on the traditional and unceded lands of the Xwsepsum (Esquimalt), Lək̓ʷəŋən (Songhees) and W̱SÁNEĆ (Saanich) Peoples, otherwise known as Victoria.

Aly holds a Master’s degree in environmental politics from the University of Victoria, where her thesis research investigated the relationship between Indigenous sovereignty, land-based movements, and climate activism in British Columbia. She also holds a BA from McMaster University in political science, and has worked as a researcher on several projects examining environmental and resource policy in Canada. Aly has been a lead researcher on federally-funded projects exploring community-based systems of ecological security and has worked with Firelight on a variety of Indigenous health-related community projects. In her free time, Aly can be found surfing, running, or rock climbing.
