Dasha (she/her) is a Junior Researcher supporting the EA/Regulatory team at Firelight. She is a second-generation settler with roots in Ukraine, currently living and working on Treaty 6 territory and the traditional lands of the Cree, Saulteaux, Niisitapi (Blackfoot), Métis, and Nakota Sioux.
Dasha completed a Bachelor of Science with a Specialization in Mathematics from the University of Alberta in 2022. There she pursued inter-disciplinary math ecology research looking at habitat-use and disease spread in deer, as well as environmental sociology research relating to climate change and the
cross-section between gender, identity, and the fossil fuel transition. She is passionate about the processes of decolonization, and the ecological and social impacts of climate change.
Outside of work she enjoys walking her dog, playing board games, and biking through the river valley.
