Nicole (she/her) is a Junior Researcher supporting the Ecology team at Firelight. She is a settler with ancestral roots in Scotland, Ireland and Germany, and was raised on the traditional and unceded lands of the Xwsepsum (Esquimalt), Lək̓ʷəŋən (Songhees) and W̱SÁNEĆ (Saanich) Peoples, otherwise known as Victoria.

Nicole holds a Bachelor of Science, specializing in Earth System Science, from Queen’s University. During her degree, Nicole undertook two research projects focusing on the importance of community and museum engagement in climate action as well as a long-term data analysis of winter climate conditions for Kingston ON.

Nicole is passionate about inclusion and empathy and is extremely grateful for all the ups and downs that has brought her here today. In her spare time, she can be found curled up with her nose in a book or outside hiking, camping and enjoying the many wonders of our world.
