Tara Lamothe is Métis, Jobin family, from Treaty 8 territory in northern Alberta. She is currently completing a Master’s degree in Resource and Environmental Management at SFU, where her research explores the amount and current location of mercury used by miners during B.C.’s gold rushes.
More broadly, Tara is interested in Indigenous resource governance and land-use planning. Her work experience includes researching and authoring reports on placer mining (small scale gold mining) in British Columbia and project management for a review of innovative mining laws from around the world.
