Through the Indigenous Youth Internship program (IYIP), Arianna (she/her) is an Ecology Intern at The Firelight Group within the Ecology team. She is a 24-year-old Cree Métis queer woman from the Michel First Nations on her father's side and of European settler descent on her mother's side. Arianna currently lives on the beautiful unceded traditional territory of the lək̓wəŋən (Lekwungen) speaking peoples, which includes the Songhees Nation, the Xwsepsum/Kosapsum (Esquimalt) nation and their descendents.

Arianna recently graduated from University of British Columbia, Okanagan Campus (UBCO) with a Bachelor of Science, double majoring in Biology and Environmental Science. She is passionate about managing the marine environment holistically using a two-eyed seeing approach. Previously, Arianna has been a research assistant at UBCO working on invasive species effects on Indigenous culture, automatic ecosystem monitoring approaches, wildfire monitoring, and species at risk. Through IYIP and BC Public Service, Arianna was also a marine planning intern in the Ministry of Water, Land, and Resource Stewardship where she worked on the Marine Plan Partnership for the North Pacific Coast.
