Emily Catherine Galley (she/they) is an Intermediate Researcher/Indigenous-led Impact Assessment Coordinator with Firelight’s Regulatory Team. She holds a double Honours BA from the University of New Brunswick in Political Science and Development Studies and an MA in Geography from the University of Western Ontario. She grew up in Ottawa, on the unceded land of the Algonquin Anishinabe, and has lived all over Canada but currently resides in Victoria, BC as a guest on the traditional territories of the Lkwungen peoples.
Emily Catherine’s background is in community engagement, resource-dependency and post-resource economies, gender analysis, and qualitative methods, and they have previously worked for several Canadian universities and international NGOs. As a member of the Regulatory Team, they contribute to a diversity of projects in eastern Ontario, northern BC, the Lower Mainland, and Vancouver Island. When not working on technical reviews and copy-editing final reports, they can be found climbing rocks, hiking, and exploring the Island’s beaches.
