Anuja (she/her) is a Research Analyst with The Firelight Group, working closely with the Indigenous Negotiations team. Originally from Nepal, she moved to Canada for graduate school in 2017. She completed her master’s degree in Environment and Sustainability at the University of Saskatchewan in 2020. Anuja’s research focused on disaster risk reduction and management in Indigenous communities in central Saskatchewan. After finishing the program, Anuja joined a First Nations-owned nonprofit to support their research capacity. During her time there, she worked on different projects including Indigenous data stewardship, management, and governance in child welfare. She has been fortunate to work closely with Elders, families and communities, and learn about the value of culture, language, and tradition in truth and reconciliation. Anuja sees value in bringing western and Indigenous ways of knowing in research to co-create relevant knowledge, policies and programming.
When she is not working, Anuja loves being outdoors, going on hikes, cooking and catching up on her favourite shows.
