Cerren Richards (she/her) is a Research Specialist at The Firelight Group supporting the Ecology team. She is originally from Wales and a settler on the traditional territories of the Beothuk and Mi’kmaq in Newfoundland.
Cerren is near completion of her PhD in Marine Biology at Memorial University, where she is co-producing knowledge on seabird biodiversity hotspots in Nunatsiavut. She also holds a Master of Science in Marine Biology from Memorial University and a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology and Oceanography from the University of Southampton. She has worked closely with Indigenous communities, government, academia, and industry on numerous transdisciplinary projects to understand how wildlife is responding to natural and human pressures. Cerren brings expertise in analyzing and managing complex climate and ecological datasets, and has a passion for leveraging art to communicate science to diverse audiences.
