Freya is a Researcher supporting the Stewardship team. She is a Euro-Canadian settler who grew up on W̱SÁNEĆ Territory on Vancouver Island and is now gratefully living in Whitehorse on the territory of Ta’an Kwäch’än Council and the Kwanlin Dün First Nation. Freya earned an MSc in Resources, Environment and Sustainability (RES) at the University of British Columbia, and holds a Bachelors of Arts and Science (BA and Sc.) in Sustainability, Science, and Society with a minor in Geography from McGill University. With a background in soil science, interdisciplinary research, and environmental education, she has found her passion in community-led work that incorporates different forms of knowledge, which she brings to her role at Firelight. Outside of work, Freya enjoys being on her bike, touching dirt, or crafting.
