Experience

James is proudly Mi’kmaw and was born and raised in Mi'kma'ki (Nova Scotia) within the Traditional District of Kespukwitk. He supports the Indigenous Negotiations Team at The Firelight Group as a Research Analyst, and he is based in Tiohtià:ke (Montréal), the traditional territory of the Kanien’kehá:ka Nation. James brings experience working with Indigenous communities from his time at the Kwilmu’kw Maw-Klusuaqn Negotiation Office as a Research Analyst, from his role as a Policy Analyst at the Government of Canada, and he has worked on projects supporting rural and Indigenous communities in Nepal. He holds a Master of Global Affairs from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University.
