Jessica (she/her) is a Research Manager with Firelight. She has a background in community engagement, environmental planning, policy analysis, and traditional land use studies. She has worked alongside Indigenous communities across Canada for over ten years on conservation planning and species protection.
Jessica holds a doctoral degree in Geography, Environment and Geomatics from the University of Guelph in Ontario. Her research involved working with Miawpukek First Nation in Newfoundland on planning for the implementation of an Indigenous Protected and Conserved Area (IPCA), with a particular focus on conservation of Species at Risk and Culturally Significant Species like moose, caribou, and salmon.
