Experience

Kristen (she/her) is a Research Analyst with the Livelihoods Team and is a proud member of the Gitxsan and Nisga'a First Nations. She is honoured to be situated on the Territories of xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish) & səl̓ilwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples.

Kristen holds an MSc in Environmental Practice from Royal Roads University, where her research focused on decolonizing worldviews by integrating Indigenous Knowledge into higher science education through land-based learning. She also earned a BSc in Ecology and Environmental Biology from the University of British Columbia.

With over a decade of experience working with and alongside Indigenous communities, Kristen has had the privilege of collaborating with various Indigenous-led organizations and teams. She remains committed to supporting and empowering Indigenous communities in their pursuit of sovereignty and self-determination.

In her spare time, Kristen enjoys playing softball and basketball, or cheering on her two sons from the sidelines. She also has a passion for reading, traveling, and camping, and treasures the time spent on her anaat—her traditional fishing territory—where she joins her family in harvesting salmon.
