Leslie Agger is Anishinaabe-kwe from Lac Seul First Nation in northwestern Ontario. Herbackground is in community-based research, with a focus on oral histories, health, environmentalassessment, and the impacts of climate change on Indigenous peoples.
Much of her work has examined the impacts of hydroelectric development along the NelsonRiver in northern Manitoba. This has included extensive time on the land with Elders andresource harvesters, documenting community histories and lived experiences related to industrialdevelopment, environmental change, and impact assessment processes. Through this work, shehas developed extensive, practical knowledge of impact assessment from a community-basedperspective, including providing testimony on behalf of the Fox Lake Cree Nation before theManitoba Clean Environment Committee.
She is a board member of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba and contributes toseveral committees, including Truth and Reconciliation and Anti-Racism in Health Care, theBoard of Governance, the Manitoba Quality Assurance Program, the Sexual BoundariesWorking Group, and the Prescribing Opioids Working Group.She also serves on the International Red River Watershed Board as a member of the WaterQuality Committee.
Most importantly, she is a mother to an 11-year-old daughter. Together, they enjoy camping,cross-country skiing, and returning to their homeland of Trout Lake, Ontario
