Lucas (he/him) is a Researcher with The Firelight Group, supporting the Socio-economic team. He brings direct experience working for an Algonquin First Nation, supporting consultation and engagement in the impact assessment process, and facilitating community-led studies. Lucas holds an MA in Geography from the University of Guelph, where his research focused in understanding labour and socio-economic sustainability in alternative agriculture. His other research roles have focused on food security, knowledge translation, community engagement, interdisciplinary collaboration, and immigration.
Lucas is of European, settler background with Austrian, Ukrainian and Hungarian ancestry. He currently resides in Victoria, BC, the traditional territory of the lək̓ʷəŋən (Songhees), Xwsepsum (Esquimalt), and W̱SÁNEĆ (Saanich) peoples. When not in this role, he is either out hiking, cooking, or engrossed in a good video game.
