Julia Conzon is a GIS Program Manager with Firelight’s GIS Team. She is a second-generation settler with Italian heritage working remotely on the unceded traditional territory of the Syilx (Okanagan) Peoples. She is currently in the process of completing her Master of Science and Data Science specialization at Carleton University in community-led Geomatics, applying a co-production framework to design and develop geographic information systems and interactive web maps with Clyde River Inuit hunters to use for travel planning and more. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts, with a major in Geography and minors in Geographic Information Systems/Sciences, Remote Sensing, and Anthropology from McGill University.
Previously, Julia has implemented monitoring services, conducted fieldwork activities, modelled socio-economic outcomes, and produced digital products (such as a crowdsourcing web application) with government, academia, industry, and communities through participatory approaches. Through these experiences, Julia brings a multi-disciplinary lens that integrate social, physical, and computer sciences to address complex relationships at the intersection of society and the environment.
