Susan is a registered professional biologist with a strong foundation in ecology and conservation, technical and non-technical writing, and species-at-risk policy and planning. Her career spans two decades, and has been consistently focused on using science to create meaningful change, with a particular interest in improving natural resources management, planning, practices, and policy to ensure ecologically important areas are conserved. As a specialist in natural resource management and conservation, Susan has worked with a wide variety of clients to pull together diverse information and synthesize it into succinct reports, summaries, and websites. Her work with the Firelight Group includes community-centred research on culturally important species at risk, policy changes for managing culturally important species, technical reviews of regulatory processes, and working with communities to develop better ways of assessing the true environmental impacts of projects.
