Experience

Aaron (he/him) is a Research Manager on the Ecology Team. He is a second generation Canadian of Norwegian and British settlers who immigrated to Prince Rupert and Kitsumkalum and Tsimshian Nation Territory in the 1920s. Aaron is grateful to live and work as an ecologist in the traditional territories of the syilx (Okanagan) and Secwépemc Nations since 2010, where he and his family are resident caretakers of a wild bird sanctuary in Coldstream, BC.

Aaron holds a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from Simon Fraser University and a masters of Forest Ecology from the University of Toronto. He is a registered professional biologist with the College of Applied Biologists with over twenty years of biological consulting experience. In his previously roles, Aaron has contributed to numerous multi-phase biophysical assessments as an ecologist and project manager, including projects in forestry, linear development (pipelines, highways), and energy (hydro, wind) sectors. He is committed to collaborating with community, subject-matter experts, and other professionals to address complex ecological challenges in innovative ways and to inform decision-makers on opportunities to secure and uphold sovereign rights, title, and jurisdiction over traditional and culturally-important territories and natural resources interests.
