Brenda (she/her/ikwe) is Anishinaabe ikwe, Turtle Clan. She was born and grew up in the small village of Camperville, Manitoba and is a member of Waywayseecappo First Nation in Manitoba. Brenda worked in education as classroom teacher and vice-principal at the elementary and secondary levels, as the division-wide Aboriginal consultant, and Director of Native Education at provincial level. Brenda worked as a mental health therapist offering crisis intervention services in many Manitoba First Nations. Brenda most recently worked as Knowledge Keeper at the University of Manitoba.
