Experience

Carter (he/him) is the Finance Director and is a member of Peguis First Nation located in Manitoba. Carter has spent much of his life between Peguis, Fisher Branch, and Winnipeg, he is currently based out of Xwmélch’tstn (West Vancouver).Carter has completed his Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.) through the Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba, Majoring in Accounting and Finance. Following completion of his bachelor’s degree he completed his Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in 2021, and his Project Management Professional (PMP) Designation in 2022.

Carter is enthusiastic about giving back to the communities that has helped develop him into the person he is today. He is a member of the executive board and Treasurer of the North American Indigenous Games Host Society 2027, and a member of the executive council and Treasurer for Ka Ni Kanichihk. Prior to his role at Firelight he spent years as an auditor completing audits and tax preparation work at a large accounting firm, where he later transitioned to Indigenous Financial Management Consulting working exclusively with Indigenous groups to enhance their financial management to assist in delivering effective services to their membership or those they serve.
