Experience

Emily (she/her) is a Researcher with the Indigenous Negotiations team at The Firelight Group. She is a settler of Czech and Russian heritage who is grateful to be living on the traditional territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations in Vancouver. Emily recently completed her MSc in Biology at Queen’s University with a focus on using bacteria to transform carbon dioxide into bioplastics, and she holds a BSc in Molecular Biology from Concordia University. Emily has a strong background in social and climate engagement and is looking forward to expanding her learning while growing with the IBA team at The Firelight Group. In her free time, you can find her climbing, taking portraits, skiing, cycling, or deep in a good book.
