Inbar Av-Shalom is a Researcher supporting the Indigenous Knowledge Research team at Firelight. She is a Jewish, second-generation immigrant currently living as a settler on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations in Vancouver, BC. Inbar holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia specializing in Anthropology and Spanish. They have worked on a variety of health projects in the fields of health professional education and perinatal care supporting the analysis of lived experiences of culturally safe and respectful service provision for Indigenous patients.
Inbar is grateful to support efforts fostering the continued practices of Indigenous knowledge in a variety of facets at Firelight. In her spare time, Inbar enjoys meditating, building puzzles, and musing over all the nice smells that exist in the world.
