Julia Conzon (she/her) is the Mapping & GIS Program Manager with Firelight’s Mapping & GIS team. She is a second-generation settler with Italian heritage working remotely on the unceded traditional territory of the Syilx (Okanagan) peoples. She has a Master of Science and Data Science specialization from Carleton University in community-led Geomatics, in which she co-produced a geographic information system and interactive web maps with Clyde River Inuit hunters to use for travel planning and more. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts, with a major in Geography and minors in Geographic Information Systems/Sciences, Remote Sensing, and Anthropology from McGill University.
Previously, Julia implemented monitoring services, conducted fieldwork activities, modelled socio-economic outcomes, and produced digital products (such as a crowdsourcing web application) with government, academia, industry, and communities through participatory approaches. Through these experiences, Julia brings a multi-disciplinary lens that integrate social, physical, and computer sciences to address complex relationships at the intersection of society and the environment.
