Neha (she/her) is a Researcher with The Firelight Group supporting the Environmental Assessment team. Originally from India, she moved to Canada in 2014 and graduated with Honours Bachelor of Environmental Management (HBEM) from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Her undergraduate thesis was based on protecting native grasslands in Alberta using different invasive species management techniques. Neha has worked for First Nations in Northeast BC for more than three years, and coordinated traditional use studies, community engagement activities, and guardian programs. She has also provided referral reviews and advocated for meaningful consultation processes. She holds the Environmental Professional (EP) designation from ECO Canada, and is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Environmental Practice from Royal Roads University. She is always striving to expand her knowledge on the sustainable development of natural resources through a combination of scientific knowledge and Indigenous expertise. She is currently residing in Treaty 6 territory in Edmonton. In her free time, she loves reading fictional novels, gardening, and dancing.
