Sarah Kromberg, BSc

Experience

Sarah (she/her) is a Researcher supporting the Ecology team at The Firelight Group. She is currently living on the unceded territories of xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) nations in Vancouver, BC. She graduated from Dalhousie University with a BSc Hons. and Co-op in Marine Biology with a minor in Oceanography.

Throughout her undergrad, Sarah was a research assistant on several field and laboratory projects, particularly focused on longitudinal studies of cetacean species. Sarah completed her honours thesis under the collaborative supervision of the Ocean Tracking Network and Apoqnmatulti’k (Mi’kmaw for ‘we help each other’), a project aimed at enhancing the stewardship of valued aquatic species in Mi’kma’ki/Nova Scotia.

Her experience learning how to incorporate Indigenous ways of knowing into western science practices is what drew her to Firelight, and she is looking forward to expanding her knowledge of Indigenous community values and ecology. After work, you can find her hiking with friends, camping, bouldering or on a run!
