QIA & The Firelight Group Release Tusaqtavut Study September 20, 2019 Firelight is pleased to announce the publication in late September of a second Tusaqtavut Study with the Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) regarding the Mary River Project expansion proposed by Baffinland Iron Mines in Nunavut. The first such report, in June, focused on the community of Pond Inlet; this study includes data from interviews with residents of Igloolik and Hall Beach. Both discuss potential project impacts to the quality and abundance of marine mammals, fish, caribou, and seabirds, the ability to access traditional camping, hunting, or archaeological sites, and more.
