Sabrina is the Communications Coordinator at The Firelight Group and one of the organizers of the Indigenous Mapping Workshop. She is an English, Irish, and French settler on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples.
She graduated from York University in 2018, Summa Cum Laude, with a degree in Communication Studies and a minor in Gender & Women’s Studies. Sabrina is passionate about storytelling as a means of community building. She has experience working with organizations and communities to build communications strategies; social media content and analytics; newsletter, blog, and technical writing; event planning; video editing; and graphic design. During her undergrad, Sabrina interned for the Toronto Arts Foundation’s Neighbourhood Arts Network as a member of their Communications Team where she provided insight to their social media analytics and made suggestions to improve their Instagram content which resulted in tripling their number of followers. She gained valuable experience working on community development projects and communications initiatives in Kasana, Luweero, Uganda at the Shanti Uganda Society where she worked with community health educators to re-build a sexual health curriculum. In her spare time, you can often find her sipping tea in a pair of slippers, dancing while cooking a meal in the kitchen, painting, arranging home decor, or watching cartoons. Sabrina is honoured to be a part of the Firelight team.
