Tanya is a Junior Researcher with the Ecology Team. She enjoys working at the intersection of conservation, community, research, policy, and education. She is experienced in developing and implementing collaborations across academia, Indigenous governments, crown agencies, non-profits, and industry. Many of these projects focus on aquatic/marine resources monitoring, restoration; and policy; as well as protected area planning and environmental stewardship.
Tanya holds an MSc in Environmental Studies from the University of Victoria. For her thesis, Tanya drew from global research and a collaborative case study with the Kitasoo/Xai’xais Nation to investigate how to support Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas planning and implementation. She completed her BSc Biology with a Minor in Field Studies at McGill University (specializing aquatic and marine ecology) and obtained a Diploma in Integrated Environmental Planning from Selkirk College.
