Experience

Jadyn (They/Them) is a research intern supporting the Regulatory Team at the Firelight Group. Born and raised on the treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation on the traditional territories of the Hodinöhsö:ni' and Anishinaabeg peoples, Jadyn is currently residing on the unceded territories of the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples’ of the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations. They recently graduated from the University of Victoria with a double major in Political Science and Environmental Studies.

Before Firelight, they worked as a research assistant analyzing risk management in Canadian salmon aquaculture and its impacts on Indigenous Nations, specializing in assessing company risk management using risk standards and concepts from the IPCC's AR6, internationally recognized Third Party Certification Standards, and Canada's Federal and Provincial aquaculture guiding documents.

Jadyn has experience in a variety of sectors from herpetofauna data collection in Madagascar, reforestation, restaurant and service industries, landscaping, and can be found bartending on weekends! In their down time, Jadyn can be found beachcombing, making soup, crafting, watching movies and deep in some light reading on the politics of intersectionality, ecology, and environmental restoration initiatives.
