Experience

Karleen (she/her) is a Researcher with The Firelight Group in the department of Socio-Economic Research. Karleen spent time in Kelowna, BC achieving her Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Studies from the University of British Columbia’s Okanagan campus. Through Karleen’s lived experience and interdisciplinary interests, she seeks to decolonize her perspectives within topics such as feminism and disability support and advocacy. She participated as a UBCO Equity Ambassador and served as an editor at UBCO’s Gender and Women’s Studies student journal. As a settler of Irish and Scottish ancestry on Treaty Six territory, she is committed to continuing to build relationships in the community and support the production of quality work created by Firelight.
