Molly Malone (she/her) is a Research Director with Firelight's Indigenous Knowledge Research team. She holds a doctorate in Socio-Cultural Anthropology from the University of British Columbia, where her dissertation research focused on conceptions of history and cultural connections to water in the Coast Salish world. She has 14 years of experience as an anthropologist providing research expertise for Indigenous communities engaged in legal and environmental regulatory frameworks. Molly leads Traditional Knowledge and Use and Culture and Rights studies across Canada, and specializes in Title and Rights research in British Columbia and Treaty Rights research in Washington State. Molly is an experienced instructor, having taught several courses in the Department of Anthropology at UBC, including an introductory survey course and advanced courses on Northwest Coast ethnography and oral history. She continues to write and publish for community, public, and academic audiences.
