Experience

Sarah Rain (she/her) is a Research Analyst with the Indigenous Knowledge Team at the Firelight Group. Sarah is Saulteaux (Anishinaabe), and a member of Zagime Anishinabek, located in Treaty 4, Saskatchewan. Currently, she resides in the traditional and unceded territory of the Sto:lo Peoples in British Columbia. Sarah graduated from Simon Fraser University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in Indigenous Studies.

Previously, Sarah was a Senior Advisor at the Canadian Red Cross (National) within the Disaster Risk Reduction & Climate Change Adaptation team, where she provided cultural guidance for national projects and initiatives. Before that, she worked in the Environmental Unit of the Native Women’s Association of Canada.  With over a decade of experience working with Indigenous communities, Sarah’s background  includes supporting Residential School survivors in the Independent Assessment Process, being a Research Assistant for the Department of Indigenous Studies at SFU, and serving on the Board of Directors for her First Nation.

In her free time, you can find Sarah with her nine-year old daughter swimming, enjoying Creation, and being a culinary enthusiast.
