Tania (she/her) is a Research Manager with Firelight’s Regulatory team, with a special interest in Indigenous well-being and rights within Canada’s regulatory framework. Tania has over ten years of experience working with Indigenous communities around the world on wellbeing, land use, food sovereignty, and Indigenous rights. Since joining Firelight, Tania has assisted various Indigenous Nations in assessing potential project and policy impacts on Indigenous rights and interests. Her work spans diverse areas, including social, cultural, economic, wellbeing, and land use considerations. Tania also offers strategic regulatory guidance, consultation support, and negotiation advice to Indigenous governments across Canada. She holds a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Amsterdam. Her thesis delves into the global land investment strategies of multinational corporations and the issue of food sovereignty for Indigenous communities at the acquisition sites in the Philippines and Indonesia.
