In our work with communities, we often hear about the important connection between preserving languages and protecting the land. That’s why many of the First Nations we partner with are working hard to revitalize their languages and ensure they’re learned by the next generation.

The First People’s Cultural Council is currently accepting funding applications for 2016-2017 for their BC Language Initiative This program provides financial support to First Nations communities and organizations seeking to revitalize their languages in the areas of curriculum development, documentation and immersion.

Funding available is $14, 715 per applicant. The deadline to apply is April 8, 2016. Full details on application requirements can be found here.
