Honour and Celebration on International Women’s Day

We at Firelight would like to celebrate International Women’s Day, and acknowledge the political, economic, environmental and social contributions of women in our surrounding communities and internationally. Through our work at Firelight, we have had the honour and privilege of working with countless, tireless Indigenous women who are leaders in their communities, and who guide the research that we do. Today we remember and honour the lives of every missing and murdered Indigenous woman, and celebrate the lives of all those women who continue to shape our futures and communities with their powerful voices.

Bringing women’s voices to a public platform is an important part of International Women’s Day, and one that we acknowledge is a vital part of building resilience and equality. We take this opportunity to celebrate the contributions of all of the powerful Indigenous women we have been privileged to work with.
