Jasheil is a Researcher for the Firelight Group, working closely with the Indigenous Health team. She is a Tamil – Malaysian settler currently living and working on unceded Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) territories.

Jasheil holds a Master of International Studies from Simon Fraser University, where her research focused on understanding the development of women’s legal rights in post-conflict contexts. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Simon Fraser University.

As a researcher, she has worked on projects locally and internationally, conducting research and engaging in education focused on climate change, Indigenous women’s health, and social policy. Jasheil’s work is centered on the implementation aspect of research, utilizing inter-disciplinary methodologies and frameworks to address systemic problems.
