Lucas is a Research Intern with The Firelight Group and is supporting both the Traditional Knowledge and Use Studies and Indigenous Health teams. Born and raised in Vancouver, BC he recently completed his BA in Political Science at the University of British Columbia while also earning a minor in Law and Society. As a descendent of the Eskasoni Mi’kmaw First Nation in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Lucas has always known he wanted to pursue a career in the field of Indigenous Rights advocacy and he feels as though The Firelight Group is the perfect place to start this journey. Having also long been interested in the environment and the ways in which Indigenous peoples use and respect their lands, Lucas is well-suited for the TUS and Indigenous health teams. In his spare time, Lucas enjoys hiking, camping, and biking around the city.
